Exchange Program

Parsippany High School, through the World Language Department, hosts a biannual exchange program with IES "Jorge Manrique" of Palencia, Spain. During approximately 16 days, the Spanish teenagers experience classes, family living and American culture. Besides following their host students to class, they typically spend three full days in New York City and three in Washington, D.C. They are also officially welcomed to Parsippany by the Mayor, in keeping with the existing “sister city” relationship previously proclaimed betweenParsippany and Palencia. It all ends in a tearful farewell as the bus takes them off to Newark Airport for their return home to Spain later in October. The separation does not last long, though, as many of these friends are reunited in Palencia the following spring.

The next scheduled exchange visit is for October 2018, and PHS families interested in participating by hosting a student can contact
Jay Duhl, the exchange coordinator.
